Why the fuss over Tun Mahathir's quit decision? If he wants to leave, let him.
It all started with a dare, like an old Malay sayings; "terlajak perahu boleh diundur, terlajak kata, terimalah padah". A dare made by opposition members, and unwitting acceptance, what a shame. All the newspapers dedicated several pages to the news, last night several minutes was dedicated by TV to sensationalize the issue.
I agree that he still commands strong supporters, all indebted to him for his generosity during his "rule", but now we are in the 21st century, life has to go on. I agree with Tun Musa Hitam; "Mahathirism" concept is outdated. Tun Mahathir already retired and retire he should be. If he just keep on the sideline, we will continue to respect him as a highly dignified "Statesman". Now people are questioning his credibility and principles.
As a person who looks into politics as an outsiders, I am very sad to see our ex-Supremo is still thinking that he commands the Nation. He talks about people kissing his hands etc... hello sir, than you are in power, now we just respect you as an elder, statesmen, ex-leader, ex-major domo, with tons of money but no longer in power to give billion dollar projects.
And Tun, please muhasabah yourself, what happened to your previous predecessors; Tunku Abdul Rahman & Tun Hussein, then to your Deputies; Tun Musa Hitam, Tun Ghafar Baba, Datuk Seri Anwar, then the rest like Tun Salleh Abbas, George Seah and Wan Sulaiman Pak Wan Teh, the late Tan Sri Malek and others including the families of all these people affected by the power.
Even though I am not an UMNO member nor any party in Malaysia, I am sad to see an institution turn into chaos. My plea to Tun, Pak Lah and all others please refer to the One, the Almighty, the Powerful Allah s.w.t. ask for directions, there are ups and downs in our life cycle and we will not live forever.
