Efficient ACA?

It is good to see that lately the Anti-Corruption Agency are very proactive and efficient. A nice change from the era of Tun Che Det. A couple of Director-Generals from government agencies had been hauled up to face the music and several politicians BN and opposition are being investigated, but why the DG and the opposition were charged. What about BN politicians securing millions worth of projects in Labuan?

ACA want to be seen as very proactive and efficient but:-
  1. What happen to the investigation on the Police supply contract worth more than RM90 million allegedly involving relatives of very prominence VIP.
  2. What is the progress on the investigation on Labuan VIP with RM40mil govt contract.
  3. What about another Sabahan VIP with another large government contract.
By charging selective individuals ACA is not transparent enough, please convince me more...

Kita lihat sajalah...

Slow access of internet last night

Last night all local newssite and major blogs like Malaysiakini, Harakahdaily, Bernama, Malaysia-today were really really slow and sometimes inaccessible. There was heavy traffic in the local cyberworld as everybody are jamming the internet to know the latest updates on Permatang Pauh by-election result.

Berita TV3 at 8pm last night only show a very short news on Permatang Pauh election and only a moment mentioning that Pakatan Rakyat had claimed their win.

All international websites were ok. Seems that the Berita from TV3 and RTM is no longer reliable to give a good and fast coverage. Internet is the major media now and the governement must do something about our broadband standard.

Tahniah DSAI

Tahniah Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and also to Pakatan Rakyat, it is as expected but the real victory is the bigger majority that DSAI had garnered compared to March 8 result when Datin Seri Azizah won the seat. A majority of 15,671 exceeding the 13,388 Wan Azizah had and the number of votes is far higher than when he was DPM.

BN, especially UMNO must do a post mortem on it's failure to at least increase the number of voters or a "muhasabah" and look at UMNO's own misdeeds.

Despite all the allegations; sodomy, corruptions among high ranking party members, misbehaviour and rowdy party supporters, phantom voters, missing names from voters' lists, the Permatang Pauh's voters has made their decision.

Earlier, I hold my comment to avoid being bias or to be seen campaigning for any party, but since the election result was already announced, in my humble opinion is that UMNO had nominated the wrong candidate or maybe purposely so that at least BN will not leave the seat unchallenged, or maybe if Arif succeed, then DSAI will be chided for losing to a ... (i reserve my comment).

UMNO's intention of putting someone with good Islamic knowledge and faith, backfired. As a muslim there is no such thing as lucky number but Arif in his statement made known he believes that his nomination number will bring him luck. His advantage is his ability to be multi-lingual, beside that his brother Amin Shah is a well known businessman (esp. among bankers).

BN should have let Ezam fight his ex-boss, let him spill the beans he has been promising yet so far none was backed by physical evidence.

Anyway, Congratulations again to DSAI and Pakatan Rakyat. BN your days are numbered unless Pak Lah come up with a good strategy...

Roadblocks & By-election

Today, roadblock still continues at several places, at Rawang Toll, there was a couple of policemen by the roadside but without any barricades or cones, so it is smooth driving. At the Jalan Duta toll entering NSE highway, the cones were blocking several lanes with policemen on the road shoulder doing nothing.

How long will this continue.

Today will be D-day for BN & PR - candidates from Akim is just an opportunist mosquito, with 100% chances of losing election deposit.

If BN wins Pak Lah's and UMNO ego will be boosted, on the other hand if they lose, the standard answer will be that "...it is generally expected and the dirty tactics used by the opposition..." while Pakatan Rakyat will blame BN of conspiracies, dirty tactics, phantom voters, corruptions and money politics if they lose. If PR wins it shows that generally people are still fed-up with the current government... Pak Lah need to act urgently... like accelerate the transition process to a new successor perhaps.

Let us wait tonite...

Roadblocks 300km from Permatang Pauh

All major roads heading North faced heavy roadblocks since Saturday.

There was heavy traffic on Saturday, Sunday and this morning at the North South Expressway under the Sg Buloh R&R Bridge. Two out of three lanes were blocked by police cones, giving only one lane as the passageway for travelers. Why? What is it (roadblock) for?

Your guess as good as mine, Permatang Pauh by-election tomorrow!

But why here in Selangor? It is more than 300km away, but people here got to suffer!

It seems that the government is so afraid of DSAI winning PP seat. What can one man do? Is he so powerful? Pakatan Rakyat cannot become government with the current number of seats, so why is the govt so afraid? The BN should not be so afraid by resorting to manipulate the enforcers to intimidate the rakyat, BN had already control all medias, except blogs and internets. Every major newspapers are giving bad impression on PR; PKR, PAS, DAP and DSAI, but a very nice story and full media coverage on BN and its candidate. So why are they still afraid?

About the roadblock, there was one after the Rawang toll entering the NSE highway. There was several cones set up and only one passageway for cars, every morning that part is always busy with cars going to work and as early as 6.40am this morning the place was jam-packed with cars.

When i pass the cone there was no police, repeat nobody was manning the roadblock, so what is the point for these roadblocks?

Datuk Bandar KL tak pernah ke cuba naik pengangkutan awam, ni asyik nak cadangkan suruh bayar levi kalau nak drive masuk KL.

Semasa naik teksi tu dengarlah apa rintihan pemandu teksi tu pulak, jangan asyik salahkan mereka saja.

Bila memandu sendiri tengoklah berapa banyak lubang-lubang di atas jalan raya tu, bukan setakat tengok trafik je, lepas ni suruh DBKL dan JKR jawab.

Harga Petrol Kekal!

Retail Petrol Price

The global Crude oil price are now trading between USD112 to USD114 per barrel. The basis for the Malaysian retail petrol and diesel prices were calculated when the crude oil price was at USD136 per barrel.

Based on my simple and stupid calculation:

Crude oil price at USD136 = retail petrol price RM2.70,

Therefore, at USD114; 136-114=22; 22/136=16.18%;
2.7-16.18% = 2.7-0.44 = 2.26; price of retail petrol should be RM2.26/litre.

At USD112; 136-112=24; 24/136=17.65%
2.7-17.65% = 2.7-0.48 = 2.22: price of retail petrol should be RM2.22/litre.

The government should reduce the retail petrol and diesel prices immediately before the by-election to gain support, lets not wait until September 1st.

Agressive ACA

Sorry I have been away for quite awhile, it was school holidays and it is time to focus my attention to my children for a while.

For the past couple of days its has been a rainy days here in KL.

And also the past couple of days there has been a lot of breaking news; two Director General of government department has been charged in court for bribery and several Perak state official being detained for alleged corrupt activities. The ACA (Anti-Corruption Agency) has been very active lately, but they are suspiciously too active. I wonder why?

I hope it is not just during these by-election fever in Permatang Pauh.

Lately, everything seems to be very suspicious. Power hungry politicians will not stop at anything...

Oil Price below USD113

Crude oil price is now below USD113 per barrel, Malaysian are now paying a high premium for our retail petrol and diesel prices. As i mentioned in my earlier blog we were given 30 sen discount when Crude Oil Price was above USD136 per barrel. Now at USD112 we are subsidizing Petronas instead of govt subsidizing us.

Why wait until 1st of September?

When the govt decided to hike the retail price by 41% and 63% for petrol and diesel respectively, they never wait until the end of the month, but when they want to reduce it, they squeeze us as much as they can!

Anyway, the damage has been done, with the drastic and huge increase, the increase on several expenses like food, cost of transport is now irreversible. No way the retailers, food sellers, transport operators will be willing to reduce their charges. Inflation will remain high...

If the govt has been very discreet and tactful when they decides the quantum of increase of retail petrol and diesel price, we would not suffer this much.

ITM - UiTM

Last month i touched on ITM before it was upgraded into UiTM. And with the upgrade the current students lost their benefit of free meals four times a day, instead it was replaced by a meal coupon for RM4 per day. Everybody was so engrossed with the name change - championed by the so called fighters for the Malay rights, UMNO - that they did not realised that we had to forego the Bumiputeras' benefit we had enjoyed since the sixties when ITM or RIDA was first established, and at the same time we had to allow KTAR to be upgraded into UTAR.

Few years back we had also opened our doors at MARA junior college to non-Bumiputera, also championed by UMNO. We, Malays are very tolerance and able to let go of our special privileges. We had already given up the universities admission quota system for meritocracy system.

Now, there are proposals to open our only Bumiputera higher education institute to non-Bumiputera! To me this is too much. There are already 20 public universities open to all (some open to international students) and there are quite a number of private institutions and universities, where the students have to struggle with meritocracy.

First they ask for 10%-20% quota, afterward 30%, later on based on meritocracy, then what is left for Bumiputera?

As an ex-student of ITM, I don't agree with the latest proposals. All ex-student of ITM had benefitted from ITM; corporate leaders, politicians, top government servants, businessmen. During my time it was very competitive with only four public universities, UM, USM, UPM and UKM and we had to compete for scholarship funds. The only alternative for us was ITM - the saviour for the hardcore poor and up to lower middle class family.

Keep your hands off UiTM, the last Bumiputera's bastion...

Multi-ethnic society of Malaysia

Over the weekend, the Bar Council's stubborn decision to to proceed with an open forum on Islamic conversion issues are finally comes to end after thousands gathered and storming the venue. The current president is really very stubborn, unheeding advises from DPM, several Ministers, govt agencies and NGOs. They only stop with the intervention of the peoples power, storming into their venue.

The Bar Council are not stupid, they are after all lawyers, yet they are very stubborn people, unlike UMNO who are ignorance.

Lately there has been several spate of calls for cancellation of concerts by international artistes after the cancellation of Inul's (the dangdut queen) concerts in JB and KL. Some times we need to de-stress ourselves, i don't think it should be an issue if we abide by the rules, Islamic or otherwise. Impose rules on dress codes, ethics on the artistes and the audience must at all time behave. To observe the prayer times and the azan. We need to be more tolerance living in a multi-ethnic society.

It is so sad to see that after almost 51 years of independence we are still racially divided...

Ujian pertama Sistem Kehakiman

Janganlah kita takbur... Sekarang siapa yang malu...

UMNO oh UMNO!

Since Independence in 1957, any aspiring candidate to become the Prime Minister, must be an UMNO president. To be become an UMNO president, one has to be handpicked by the current president. Therefore, UMNO is the most undemocratic party in Malaysia, how do you label such tradition, empirism? cronyism? dictatorship or semi-dictatorship?

It mean that the Malaysian citizens' right to choose a Prime Minister were denied.

Yesterday, the Wanita UMNO also made the decision that there will be no contest and TSRA will handover the position to her deputy next year. Why next year? Why not now? Why not during the party election so that the members had a choice...

What is happening here? What is the meaning of proper transition? It is an undemocratic move. the members should be given the right to choose. UMNO is still as ignorant as ever, they will never learn, they reduced their majority in Parliament, they lose 5 states, still they ignore the grassroots. They don't understand the message...

MRR2: SV's legacy

It seems that the MRR2 problem is still haunting the government and its users. The new Minister must take responsibility on the structure. If the the former Minister, DSSSV (SV for short) thought he can now wash his hand, sorry this legacy will forever haunt him. While in power he can instruct his honchos to cover all holes (since he is in charge of Public Work Dept - JKR - expert in digging and covering hole...) but now he is just a component party leader, nothing more.

Pak Lah statement mentioned that "...the recurrence of cracks on a pillar of the MRR2 flyover in Kepong could have been averted if the previous repairs had been carried out responsibly..." the word "if" implies that he is not satisfied with SV or "if" means he knew that it was not carried out responsibly!?

What happened to the investigation file on this project?

And the huge sum for repair at RM70 million is not cheap, foreign consultants was called and later guaranteed its safety... but now? ACA should again open their investigation files. The monies are ours, the taxpayers money, we have the right.

Allah is Great! It happens on Sunday, less road user, secondly it happens when PKR and BN are preparing for a showdown.

I fear for my family and my own safety, I will not be using this route anymore, never mind taking a longer path or paying more for fuel, even with the Minister assurance, Can he replace the lives of our love ones?

Scramble to Permatang Pauh

Today everybody is scrambling to Permatang Pauh to woo voters for the upcoming by-election. Well, we can expect all the top leaders will be making their calls and every Tom, Dick and Harry... sorry Malaysian version Dol, Mat dan Minah will be milling around these leaders expecting to gain "somethings".

While there would be many looking at opportunities, the Leaders are expected to announce party members jumping parties. Definitely, UMNO will need a very strong candidate to fight DSAI. The former candidate Pirdaus is a small fry, while Ezam who has been paid by UMNO to go around, are eager to be the challenger - must remember that he is an outsider. He is challenging his former boss, the man he fight for previously. He is now the infamous clone of Ibrahim Ali or better known "Katak". I don't think the UMNO veteran would be happy if Ezam is to be fielded and furthermore can his credibility be trusted - he was the major opposition strategist and he had condemned UMNO, BN and the government, but now he is against his ex-boss, why? Why he left PKR? He is just like his ex-boss, promise to reveal everything but so far.... none.

Who is capable of toppling DSAI? Pak Lah? NO; Najib? NO; Ezam? NO;
Probably Money, Bureaucrat and Conspiracies...

DSAI is expected to be held in custody soon on the allegation of sodomy. Eventhough the Internal Affair Minister (IAM) said that the case will handled by the deputy IGP and The Solicitor General, please remember, these two guys reports to the IGP and the AG - so what is the difference? What IAM should do is to suspend the two head honchos and let the case be investigated.

DSAI vs Police

This morning while waiting for the lift to go the banquet hall for my breakfast, my friend exclaimed, "Malaysia is now the most efficient police force...", I was confused and asked "why...?"

He answered, "Do you realized that all this while, they said they could not conclude their investigation on DSAI's case, but yesterday when DSAI announced that he is going to contest the Permatang Pauh bi-election, immediately the police submitted their investigation papers to the AG."

I said, "Ya lah!, all this while they have been blaming DSAI for not cooperating to submit to DNA testing." And every BN members, especially Pak Lah said they need latest DNA because the previous 10 year old record is no longer be use. Use for what? To taint the evidence? Why they need blood? Then how they conclude the case?

It was like the two sides are now playing mind games of chess, each are just waiting for the others to make a move... Previous scenario if we can recall DSAI made a report against MH and GP, immediately a sodomy allegation was reported against DSAI. And ironically MH is the head honcho of police while GP is the AG, so who is going to win?

So will DSAI be charged? Well my friend prepare yourself, for unnecessary roadblocks, traffic jams and rumours on rallies.

The actual victim here, us the rakyat, the non-partisan. To all politicians, please stop all this drama, let us live our life peacefully...
