Tahniah Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and also to Pakatan Rakyat, it is as expected but the real victory is the bigger majority that DSAI had garnered compared to March 8 result when Datin Seri Azizah won the seat. A majority of 15,671 exceeding the 13,388 Wan Azizah had and the number of votes is far higher than when he was DPM.
BN, especially UMNO must do a post mortem on it's failure to at least increase the number of voters or a "muhasabah" and look at UMNO's own misdeeds.
Despite all the allegations; sodomy, corruptions among high ranking party members, misbehaviour and rowdy party supporters, phantom voters, missing names from voters' lists, the Permatang Pauh's voters has made their decision.
Earlier, I hold my comment to avoid being bias or to be seen campaigning for any party, but since the election result was already announced, in my humble opinion is that UMNO had nominated the wrong candidate or maybe purposely so that at least BN will not leave the seat unchallenged, or maybe if Arif succeed, then DSAI will be chided for losing to a ... (i reserve my comment).
UMNO's intention of putting someone with good Islamic knowledge and faith, backfired. As a muslim there is no such thing as lucky number but Arif in his statement made known he believes that his nomination number will bring him luck. His advantage is his ability to be multi-lingual, beside that his brother Amin Shah is a well known businessman (esp. among bankers).
BN should have let Ezam fight his ex-boss, let him spill the beans he has been promising yet so far none was backed by physical evidence.
Anyway, Congratulations again to DSAI and Pakatan Rakyat. BN your days are numbered unless Pak Lah come up with a good strategy...
